A busy reception or function creates work beyond the dining room. Plates return, glassware needs replenishing and service areas need to stay organised. One Events helps you describe that workload and request the right kitchen support, with staffing supported by Event Staff Australia.
Dishwashing and wash-up support
Request assistance with loading and unloading dishwashing equipment, sorting used items and keeping the washing area organised under the venue's instructions. Include the equipment available and expected volume of crockery and utensils.
Glassware handling
Plan collection, washing, drying and replenishment so guest-facing staff have clean glasses available. For hired glassware, explain the supplier's packing requirements and collection deadline.
Service and kitchen assistance
Identify tasks such as moving supplies, returning trays, clearing approved work areas and supporting the caterer's service flow. Any food preparation must be specified in advance with the required skills and supervision.
Final clearing and pack-down
Allow time after food service for agreed cleaning and packing duties. Tell us which items belong to the venue, caterer or hire supplier and where clean items, waste and recycling should go.

Corporate functions and venue service
A conference break, staff celebration or formal dinner can create a concentrated wash-up period. Match kitchenhand working times to preparation, peak service and the final return of dishes. Describe the handover between the kitchen and floor teams.

Start with the workload
Share the event date, suburb, guest count and food-service format. Include the number of courses or service periods, approximate glassware volume and any reusable hire items. Tell us whether staff will support a commercial kitchen, venue pantry or temporary catering area.
Define the responsibilities
List dishwashing, clearing, glassware, food-running and cleaning as separate tasks. Identify the chef, caterer or venue supervisor directing the work. Kitchenhands are support staff; chef duties, specialist cooking and technical equipment work need a separate brief.
Include the whole working window
Allow for an equipment briefing, service preparation, peak wash-up and final packing. Share access, parking, uniform requirements and any role-specific training or certificates. Send separate shifts if preparation and evening service need different coverage.

Kitchenhand hire questions.
Can we book kitchenhands without wait staff?
Yes. Describe the back-of-house tasks and the support already provided by your venue or caterer. You can request kitchen support alone or include several roles in one enquiry.
Are kitchenhands the same as chefs?
No. Kitchenhand requests cover agreed support tasks such as washing, clearing and supplies. Tell us separately if you need cooking, specialist preparation or another qualified role so the requirements are clear.
Do staff bring cleaning or kitchen equipment?
Tell us what your venue or caterer supplies, including washing equipment, cleaning products, protective equipment and packing crates. Staff hire does not automatically include equipment or consumables.
How many kitchen staff should we request?
That depends on service volume, facilities, menu and the duties covered by others. Share your guest count, schedule and equipment details so your request reflects the actual work rather than a fixed staffing ratio.
